 “From the days of obscurity, to the ultimate triumph and the establishment in the world’s top national teams”. This could be the title of the “fairytale” that the Greece National Team added to the history of football. Being in the 66th position of the FIFA World Ranking (September 1998), Otto Rehhagel created a firm team, full of passionate and well-trained players, who have sat well in the top 20 national teams of the world, for the last 6 years.
The mad course of this team started in 2002, when a Euro qualification came with a marvelous victory in Zaragoza, Spain. Right after, team was crowned European Champions in 2004, beating World Champs France and hosts Portugal twice. The establishment came with a Euro 2008 finals qualification and a qualification to the World Cup 2010 in South Africa!
The blue-white flag will be waiving in the stadia of South Africa this summer and the newly designed shirt of Greece is here, on Sport Arena site. First available is the away kit, the white one with the stylish stripes across the emblem, where the heart of the players is, and the waist. On the backside of the shirt, around the neckline, the word ELLAS is displayed proudly - an innovation started by ADIDAS some years ago which continues until today.
